WHY?

Bullying has become a disturbing universal epidemic.

  • Research shows that half of all children are bullied at some time during their school years. More than 10% of school students are bullied regularly.
  • 64% of all children who have been bullied did not report it
  • According to a 2011 Harvard School of Health Study, bullying erodes a student’s self esteem, and affects grades. An atmosphere that is unsafe for kids leads to lower academic performance. 
  • 75% of all school shootings have been linked to bullying and harassment, according to NOBullying.com.
  • About 56% of all students have personally witnessed bullying of some form while at school

WHO?

Bullying not only happens to children, but to people of all ages and all walks of life.

  • Each year there are more than 3.2 million students who are the victims of a bully.
  • In 2012, according to CareerBuilder.com: 35% of more than 3,800 workers surveyed claimed that they had been bullied at their workplaces
  • 9.5% of the elderly population (over 60 years old) are bullied.

WHERE?

Bullying occurs everywhere, from the playground to workplaces, elder care facilities and online.

  • According to 2011-2012 bullying statistics by The Bureau of Justice Statistics, US Department of Health and Human Services, 37% of students report being bullied at school.
  • According to ISafe Foundation, 35% of kids have been threatened online, some more than once.
  • One-million children on Facebook alone were harassed in 2011 as reported by Consumer Reports.
  • According to an Arizona State University gerontology expert, between 10 and 20% of residents in senior care homes are mistreated by peers.

HOW? 

  • WEAR WHAT YOU BELIEVE! By wearing a Love Not Label t-shirt, you are an ambassador for the anti-bullying movement. Your shirt is a conversation starter to raise awareness to put a stop to the bullying epidemic.
  • Don’t stand idly by and watch bullying happen, be an agent of change and do something about it. Tell a teacher, family member, friend or police officer.

  • Encourage others to love, not label.
  • Listen to those who are victims of bullying and give them an ear to share their experience. You could help save a life just by listening.
